The Chimps Get Goofy

The Chimps Get Goofy

This week, it seemed that some of the chimps were acting extra playful. Upon walking into the chimps’ night house Emma greeted me by making faces and wobbling her head. I did the same back to her and she became more enthusiastic and let out a smile. She then lied down on her back on the bench, grabbed her hands with her feet(happy baby pose for any yogis reading this), and continued making faces while looking at me upside down. Emma laughed as the head shaking made me dizzy and she moved on to a new trick: handstands! She grabbed the wire mesh with her feet to stabilize herself as she looked at me through her arms, upside down and continued wobbling her head as she stuck her tongue out and smiled.

Soon, Patti noticed the attention that Emma was getting and came over to join in the fun. She patted Emma’s side and asked her to move over. Patti either didn’t understand the game, or felt that making funny faces was beneath her, and sat there looking very seriously at me. I started making faces and shaking my head, just as I did with Emma and though Patti did not join in, she began to laugh at how silly I looked.
