Rose, who passed away on August 24, 2006, was Chimps Inc.’s first big cat rescue.  She was born on May 20, 1991 and was destined to be a pet in Wisconsin.  When the family was unable to obtain their USDA license, Chimps Inc. offered to provide Rose with lifetime care.

Similar to snow leopards’ natural habitat in Central Asia, Rose spent her days at Chimps Inc. roaming freely in a large enclosure of rocky outcrops and sparsely vegetated slopes with grasses and small shrubs.  She enjoyed lying on the cool rocks, lying under the Juniper trees, and batting around her favorite basketballs.  Rose was 15-years-old when she succumbed to renal failure, a very common disease in felines, and passed away peacefully with her human caregivers by her side.  Though we were devastated to lose such an amazing friend, we take comfort in knowing that she is free now.  She will live in our hearts forever.
