Chimps, Inc. Statement

Oregon OSHA October 4, 2017 Inspection and Citation Notification

Chimps, Inc. fully participated in an Oregon OSHA inspection in July 2017. We received the initial report from Oregon OSHA on October 4, 2017 and have already addressed and abated many of the items in the report.  However, there are some citations that require further clarification and seem not to wholly apply to our unique situation, so we have appealed those items and have a conference set with Oregon OSHA scheduled for December 20, 2017.

The safety and welfare of our employees, volunteers and the animals in our care is Chimps, Inc.’s highest priority. We are cooperating fully with Oregon OSHA and will continue to take all necessary action to ensure safety at our sanctuary. As per Chimps Inc. policy, all current employees and volunteers have been properly trained.

Chimps, Inc. is Oregon’s only chimpanzee sanctuary, is a founding member of the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance and is licensed and inspected annually by the United States Department of Agriculture.
