Dear Friends and Animal Lovers,

I hope the new year brings you everything you hope for, and that you spent Valentine’s Day surrounded by loved ones.

The sanctuary received two feet of snow recently, which entertained the chimps and kept our staff and volunteers busy shoveling. The chimps enjoyed snow pools filled with nuts and fruit, and snow cones sprinkled with seasonings. We watched our big cats leaping and romping through the winter wonderland, a natural form of enrichment for these cold weather felines. Please keep up with all of our winter news on our Facebook page.

We recently completed one of our New Year’s resolutions with the launch of our brand new website at the end of January. We are so grateful to Weinstein PR who worked very hard to create the perfect look and format. They did a fantastic job and we are so pleased with how it turned out. We also want to extend a big thank you to Sonata Inc. who hosted our site for many years. We are continuing to fine-tune the new website so keep checking back for new additions.

To keep our promise of providing lifetime care for our animal residents, our endowment requires $19,200 per year, per chimpanzee for the rest of their lives, and we rely on your donations to meet those needs. One of our goals for 2014 is to come up with a permanent way to show our donors and friends how much we appreciate their yearly support. We are envisioning a Planned Legacy Wall, a permanent structure located at the sanctuary with different levels of participation, designed to pay tribute to you, our dedicated supporters. We realize that we would not be afforded the opportunities we have without you. Stay tuned as this idea transitions into a reality. And when you come to visit our special family, look for your name and please allow us to thank you in person!

I hope your families are well and that we will see you all this year for our annual Open House in June.

In your honor,

Lesley
