Michel Waller is an assistant professor of anthropology at Central Oregon Community College and an instructor of anthropology for the University of Oregon. He studies bonobo and chimpanzee socioecology and behavior in an effort to better understand the spectrum of factors that have shaped early human evolution. His research has focused on ranging behavior, territoriality, aggression, and tolerance and includes field work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Senegal. Furthermore, he has looked at conservation issues including the effects of war on bonobo behavior as well as competition between primates and humans for forest resources.
