About Jackson

One of our youngest residents arrived alongside with Emma to Chimps Inc. on March 14, 2007. Jackson was born on January 1, 2001.  His former home was Primarily Primates, Inc. (PPI), an animal facility that came under scrutiny in 2006.  Allegations against PPI included animal cruelty and neglect, overcrowding, poor sanitation, and multiple environmental violations.  At that time Jackson had little physical, auditory, and visual contact with other chimpanzees - a vital aspect to a young chimpanzee’s psychological, social, and behavioral development.

In March of 2007, Chimps Inc. offered to adopt Jackson to help alleviate the burden of overcrowding at PPI.  Since Jackson ’s arrival to Chimps Inc., he has been successfully integrated into our chimpanzee family group.  He has access to our extensive indoor and outdoor environments and has been provided connections to many chimpanzee “role models” that have assisted him in his physical and emotional growth.  Jackson has shown considerable improvements in his health and psychological well-being.  As with many young chimpanzees, Jackson enjoys cavorting with all of his new “brothers and sisters”, and can often be seen playing with Maggie.  He enjoys a good game of chase around the enclosures with his human caretakers and his new idol, our alpha male, Topo. He diligently watches Topo and attempts to emulate his every move.    Jackson particularly takes pleasure in nuzzling up to warm blankets and watching his caretakers prepare a buffet of foods for the day – some of his favorites are a warm cup of oatmeal and fresh grapefruit.

You can now adopt Jackson!  Your package will contain a personalized certificate, a photo and a short bio of Emma, a packet of greeting cards with beautiful pencil drawings of our chimps by artist Alan Li, and a one year subscription to our newsletter. Chimp adoption packages make great gifts for friends and family.
